Classic Dinner

There seems to be no one eating dinner besides Mrs Air Time and Me. The boys are out. The daughter already ate.

Which means no conversation about school. Or recess. Or burping, farting, baseball card talk, fighting or any of the other wonders we get every night when we sit down for dinner.

Just two adults sitting and eating and watching TV, just like we did before kids.

Oh well, it was a disaster. Daughter did not sit and watch quietly, but kept on talking to us and asking for things.

Note to self. Next time, get rid of daughter also to engage in TV watching mindless brain free dinner.

OrthoDad and I didn't have early meetings today so went out for breakfast. Of course, the friendly proprieter of our local bagel eatery (JPT, and SW, you know just who I mean) was happy to point out that if we are both blackberrying our way through breakfast(which we were), we might as well each go to work and eat breakfast at our respective desks. It's rare that a bagel store owner imparts such earth-shattering wisdom, but he was SO right. We put the devices away.

...funny, to me it sounds like an ideal setting for engaging in the fine sport of wife-fighting

there are 900 bagel stores in the 5 towns, and 642 pizza shops. How could anyone really know who you are refering to?

How many bagel stores have an obnoxious proprieter with a really big mouth?

My knowledge of U.S. geography isn't that great.
Does Far Rockaway count as one of the Five Towns...or is it just bordering them? (I have close family in Far Rockaway.)

If there are 500 bagel stores, and we are talking about anywhere within the vicinity of NY, my guess is ALL OF THEM

Pearl - I think Far Rockaway is near the five towns but not in them.

Dear lord - please let her know that I was not being sarcastic with my last post. Amen

True enough, Air. But there is one particularly obnoxious proprieter.

Pearl: Far Rockaway borders one of the Five Towns, but is not part of them. For all intents and purposes, though, it is part of the same community.

Far Rockaway, or at least part of it, still think they're in the 5-Towns. They call themselves 'West Lawrence'. I always thought that funny. You don't hear anyone in Lawrence saying they live in 'East Far Rockaway'.

Air, watching TV while eating dinner. tsk. tsk. tak. I know that whenever we manage to sit down for dinner together, I'm expected to make to meaningful conversation. You know, the 'we never talk' line.

Really, JPT? I feel like that is happening less and less. The Far Rockaway types no longer want to be considered part of the "frei" Five Towns. They are very happy to be considered to be living in a more "yeshivish" neighborhood.
