The Kiddish club concept leaves me conflicted.

The best days of my life where when I would arrive at shul around leining time...schmooze for a minute or two, and then head downstairs for a belt(s) of scotch,a plate of food, and good conversation with great friends. Usually, I'd emerge thoroughly besotted, somewhere between kedusha for mussaf and adon olam.

But then I had the misfortune of getting involved...in the shul, that is. As a representative of the shul board and as a vocal supporter of the rabbi, I became one of the goody-goodies.

I'd shush the talkers and frown on the KC members.

Frankly, I think the KC -- in any incarnation --ruins the shul and demeans the davening.

On the other hand, it was a hell of a lot more fun.

I still wonder who was right...

I posted about KC's. Like SW, I have some fond KC memories and I'd probably still pay a visit. However, I'm not going to pretend it's right.

This is weird. I think your 2 biggest supporters are spitting on your International KC concept.
