The Nectar of the Gods turns 40

My friend Zwicker, who you may remember from his Drive A Thon posts, took some time to find a wife. He would frequently travel to go on dates, and somewhere along the way, probably while slurping an ice cold slurpee, set a goal for himself to drink a slurpee in every state in America, and as many provinces in Canada as he could.

Zwicker considered the Slurpee to be the NEctar of the Gods, and often times, as the date was falling apart, he could be comforted with the knowledge that he had crossed another state of his slurpee quest.

Ironically, Zwicker married a girl from Louisville, KY, a city which has zero seven eleven's in it.

The Slurpee turns 40 today, or maybe they just made the birthday today for the cute factor. Regardless, walk into a 7-11 today and you can walk out with a free sample size slurpee (In past years they were 7.11 oz cups.)

I remember the lines they always have there...one kid came with a red wagon for his family...amazingly, the 7-11 like a mile away had no line at all...

Oh man!!! Why isn't there a 7-11 in Israel yet?!? They would do such good business here. I miss it! Man, those were the days...

For some reason, any 7-11 near a Jewish neighborhood was out of the freebies by 2:00. Go figure.

For those keeping score, I'm at eleven states and three Canadian provinces. There would have been many more except that most dates were in three or four states. By the way, not only are there no 7-11's in Louisville, there are none within 250 miles.
