It's Calling Me

10:47 AM - I have managed to put the Burger Buddy that sits in my bag out of my mind for the past two hours. This is not an easy task. The Burger Buddy is the pinnacle of Burgerness, and not eating it for breakfast took an act of extreme willfulness.

But now it is in my mind, and not disappearing.

I got ahold of the Burger Buddy last night, shortly after one, when Veev returned from her sojourn to Ken's Diner. Along the way, she also looked at appliances that have 220V power cords, things we will need after we move.

But the highlight of her trip, I am sure, was Ken's.

To help build my character, I will postpone the eating of the Burger Buddy until at least 11. After that, all bets are off.

As a lifetime resident of the East Coast, the mecca of kosher food in the united States, I am curious to know if Ken's Burger Buddies are so good because they are a rare treat in a region where kosher burger joints are few and far between, or are they that good?

In other words, was Noach really such a tzaddik, or was it just because everyone else was such a rasha?

We await your response... Inquiring minds want to know!

As an ex-NYer, I have to say that NOTHING in Chicago is as good as a comparable restaurant in NY. Not even Ken's. But the Burger buddies are pretty good. Very thick burgers. But hard to eat. They always fall apart on me.

Ken's beats Kosher Delight, but I'm sure there are places in NY now where you can get a thick, grilled burger that tastes better.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in the NY area, I can say without a doubt that i would choose a Burger Buddy over any burger I have ever eaten on the East coast.

As someone who lived in New York for seven years and visited there often for the following seven years, and as someone who recently died in that other kosher burger mecca, Burgers Bar in Israel, I also give the Burger Buddy the nod.

mmm... Ken's...

And everything is better outside of NY. I think the Milwackyness is setting in, PT.

And who would NOT eat a Burger Buddy at 10 am?!

zwicker,

you also died in Burgers Bar? I'vew heard that's one of the best ways to go.

There is nothing in Israel that compares to the Burger Buddy. And I've eaten them at all hours and certainly would not have waited until 11 to eat yours.

Maybe the Burger Buddy's would taste better to me if they weren't always STONE COLD by the time they called my order. Or if there wasn't somebody standing over my table waiting for me to finish.

And the steaks at Hapisgah in Queens trounce Bugsy's.

But I'm not complaining. At least I can GET a hamburger if I'm willing to drive 90 minutes each way for one.

Living in Chicago,I have not met anyone who actually really likes the Burger Buddy. People will eat them, but AT is the only person I know who can write an entire dissertation on it.
