Drama in the D

We bring our daughter to an unlicensed day care. The same unlicensed day care that my boys went to, and some of my siblings went to many years ago.

Its not perfect. It runs out of someone's home, and there are issues. But on the whole, we are happy with the care our daughter gets, and the cost of the service.

That wasn't good enough for some mysterious person in the community.

There are five unlicensed day cares running in our community. They all received notices that they had to shut down within fifteen days. Someone turned them in.

And to make it worse, it was someone frum who did it. Which means there is a witch hunt to find out who did it, and names are being tossed around as to who it could be and what shul they must daven at.

I don't know what is involved in getting licensed, but I imagine it is going to cost the consumer (READ: Me) more money at the end of the day. I was glad to find out that our babysitter declares her income and pays taxes on it.

I don't know how someone can walk through our community, knowing how difficult they made life for so many people who use these services. It is primarily teachers who use these babysitters, although other people use them as well.

I wish I knew who it was just so I could tell that person how sick they make me.

The way I see it

Unlicensed business - not good.
Government informant - scum of the earth

that lesbian did it.
she had this issue for a while and now actually did something about it. isnt she noble.
i want to ask her directly, but she rarely shows up in schul anymore, and i really dont want to call her.
she has had trouble with orthodoxy for years, and now has done this. if she thinks she was ostracized before, as soon as people find out, she will be really hated.

and the rabbis thing about how we shouldnt talk about it -- is he crazy?
i want to know who did it since that person is dangerous and i want nothing to do with her.
the frum world has needs the outside cant understand, and we have to handle our own business.
i think she did this to test the frum community in a way they had to fail.

comments?

I agree with the rabbi that we shouldn't speculate who did it. Most of the time when you speculate about who did it you are wrong. So while I would like to know who it was that did it, I try to avoid just guessing names based on a preconceived profile of who I think might have done it.

It's important to know who did it, because she is a danger to the Orthodox community's fabric. Such behavior is not to be tolerated.

Idle speculation for no purpose is one thing; this is with a definite end and purpose in mind.

And in any case, Air, why are you so curious who did it? According to your logic, it should be irrelevant.

No matter how you look at it, idle or not, speculation can only hurt people who were not involved.

I am curious to know who did it, because I would like to tell that person how complicated they made people's lives for no reason. I'd like to ask why that person thinks they know better than I do about what is best for my child.

But I'm not going to guess who it was. Too many people get hurt when everyone is just speculating, and it is rarely the person who everyone thinks it is.

Think about this. Everytime a serial killer is arrested, his neighbors always tell you how they would have never though it was him. He was such a hardworking, good guy.

As for the Lesbian, I don't know who you are referring to. However, I have had friends and co-workers who were lesbians, and I never seen one of them backstab anyone just because they were lesbians.
