The Holidays...

List of non-religious holidays in order of how much I like them:

Thanksgiving – Turkey, football, family. A day of fun and feasting.
Super Bowl Sunday – Football, gambling, junk food, BBQ
Memorial Day – BBQ, start of summer
Independence Day – BBQ, beach
Labor Day – BBQ, sign of kids going back to school
President’s Day – Family leaves me home alone for a week while school is off
Father’s Day – Celebration of me and BBQ
Columbus Day – No responsibilites
Veterans Day – No responsibilities
New Year’s Day – Another night in front of the TV wishing it was summer
Martin Luther King Day – Listen to more parents complain that our kids’ school didn’t do enough to celebrate
Mother’s Day – Between wife and mom, someone is unhappy
Valentine’s Day – Can’t seem to ever get any no matter what
Christmas - Try working in a retail ad agency and you'll understand the meaning of twelve weeks of Chirstmas

Clearly, mother’s day is near the bottom of the list. Traditional mother’s day eating usually includes brunch instead of BBQ, and talking to my mother in law.

And there is no getting past this. Wives (or at least my wife) believe husbands (READ:Me) should get them a present because they are the mother of our children.

But it is this Sunday, regardless of what I do to pretend it isn’t coming.
