It was an Emergency

It is Pesach vacation in Israel. Most of our friends have gone home for the month, but some of us have stayed, and we spend every day trying to figure out what we can do that will be cooler than what we did yesterday. I mostly hang out with Dudi when we are trying to kill time. We are talking with our Nachy, Chavie, Sari, Oren and Lori. Someone suggests we go to Eilat. AN hour later we meet at the bus station, bags in hand, for our Eilat adventure.

Eilat is beautiful, and we have a great time, hanging out on the beach all day. But now it is getting dark outside, and we have no money. That is, not enough for a hotel and clubbing. Nachy. For some reason, we have enough money for cigarettes and food and the ride back, but not enough for dance club and hotel.

Nachy has money for all of us though. His parents gave him some money for emergencies, and as he sees it, going to the dance club is an emergency. Chavie, who may or may not be his girlfriend, but definitely wants to be, insists that he not spend his emergency money on us going to a club, but she is overruled by Nachy, and soon we are all inside dancing to blasting Israeli techno music. Oren seems to be hooking up with Sari, and at some point in the coming weeks, Dudi will go out with Lori. I am the odd man out. Which is OK, as I left my furious girlfriend in Jerusalem, and she doesn’t need another thing to be angry about. Dudi and I were supposed to have Pesach Seder with her and some friends and her relatives.

Hours later, we leave. We have hooked up with a few people we met in the club, and are going to try and crash at their hotel, but it doesn’t work out, and we are wandering the streets again. Sleeping on the beach doesn’t appeal to us, but somehow we find a barn of some kind that is empty, and we sleep there. Until Oren wakes up and finds shit all over the floor where he was sleeping.

We wake up, though, and the sun is shining. We go back to beach, and crash for a few hours, before Dudi and I go back to Jerusalem.

israel experiences are usually worth repeating, though. glad it was such a fun time in your life.

wow, your memory is remakable! we need to get together to reminisce. I lost all those details years ago!

You forgot "be spontaneous!" as we had just came back from the North and bumped into everyone at the tachana going to Eilat. We went to re-pack and go.

Or how the whole trip was on a buget of about 100 sheks, and 50 were for the bus. This explains the trip the the 'all you can scoop' ice scream store. We managed to balance like 12 scoops on one cone. The owner kicked us out.

Being the space cadet that I am , I of course didn't even realize that everyone was hooking up all around us until later. So it was mee and you buddy. I didn't go out with Lori until after Pesach.

I seem to recall trying to sneak into some hotel, but can't remember details.

I think we slept on top of the piles of chained up beach chairs. when it got too cold, we went into McDavid's to sleep some more. It's odd how every picture the trip shows us either sleeping, eating or smoking.

We back ourselves? where was the rest of the crew?

I always kept money around for these kinds of emergencies when I was in Israel for the year.

I kept thinking of ice cream but i couldn't remember why we ate it, adnI forgot Sari's whole be spontaneous thing. And also sitting around at McDavids by a picnic table outside.

The hotel thing had something like 5 girls staying there and we tried to crash but it didn't work out.

I think we came back ourselves. Maybe we had something to do?

What were we coming back from in the north? Probably just the beach, i guess.
