Actual IM conversation
My friend's grandmother passed away last week. We had this conversation the night before the funeral, but I wasn't sure it was appropriate until after enough time had passed.
Since some time has passed, I think this is acceptible.

Him: thanx
Me: sorry i cant make it to funeral though
Him: there will be a BBQ with romanians there
Me: on the casket?
Him: Grandma's last wish was to have a big BBQ at her funeral
Me: i wish i could make it. can you save me something?
The conversation went downhill from there.
I think we are going to hell for that one...

On Friday, nearly 48 hours after the funeral, the same friend called me. I told him that I'm pretty sure that nobody in MNFBBQ would hold it against him if he was absent tonight due to the shiva house. He, without hesitation, asked why he wouldn't be there. This is yet one more example of how I am in some ways jealous of his absolute disregard for what people might think about him.
BTW, AT, FFJ's hosting tonight was in jeopardy. E-mail or call me for details if you can't wait until tonight to hear the details.
Nothing wrong with a BBQ. At least she didn't have herself shot out of a cannon.
He didnt save anything, but he did tell me he would continue the BBQ tonight. I'll see him tonight and we'll have some food in honor of grandma.
Which reminds me, maybe I should hit the shiva house.

Krunk -- I think just mentioning that point is weird
i didnt go to the funeral, but i dont think they actually cooked anything or anyone there.
I was out of town this past weekend...is this someone I should be paying a shiva call to?
If so, someone please contact me tonight with the details...
