Yom Yerushalayim
Today is Yom Yerushalayim. I know this because last night I had to attend a program my kid was in to celelbrate the Chag. But it is not getting nearly the discussion that Yom Haatzmaut gets. And it is easy to see why.
Yom Haatzmaut is the beneficiary of the calendar. Create a celebratory holiday, throw it in the middle of Sefirah, and suddenly some people are listening to music and going to concerts, while others have to take a stand against the entire state of Israel because they want to maintain their sefirah sorrow.
But Yom Yerushalayim doesn't have any of that. It is after Lag BaOmer, so no one bothers with concert extravaganzas and large events.
The calendar people needed to throw Yom Yerushalayim onto the third of Av, and then we would see a rockin celebration.

Can't exactly move the date for the sake of people's excuses. It happened when it happened. They can take it up with G-d, if they like. I have His number, if they need to get ahold of him.

This morning in shul there were if anything fewer people than usual.
More tepid MO bankrupcy?

Its because Yom Yerushalayim is in the wrong part of the calendar.
