Nothing left

There were 15 minutes to play. One period. In a tie game. In a game where three of our players couldn't make it because they were in Toronto at a family member's wedding.

Our bench consisted of one person. The game was so physical, we could hardly stand. And our goalie was playing incredibly strong hockey.

But fifteen minutes. We can leave it all on the floor. We have to if we are going to win this game.

Ten minutes to go. Still tied. Just like the playoff game we lost to these guys. Tied 4-4 late in the game.

There's another shot, and save. And we are getting the puck, dumping it down, and they are bringing it right back up.

Eight minutes to go. Barely hanging on, when they score.

Slack Jaws 5, Us, still at 4

We call timeout. there are 4 minutes lef t and we need some air and water, but most of all, we need a goal. We need to tie it up. 240 seconds. It can be an eternity.

We are pressing, but we are out of gas. We chase, but we have no bench, and they have been playing with five guys on their bench and their best player has barely stepped onto th court during the thrid period. But he is there now. And with less than two minutes to go, he puts the finishing touches on this game.

Game. Set. Match.
